Walter T. Niebaum

Walter T. Niebaum, 86, of Sioux City, IA, passed away on Monday, October 5th, 2026.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 21st, 2026, from 4:00pm-7:00pm, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave.

Walter was born on December 21, 1939, in Sioux City, to William and Dorothy (Jordan) Niebaum. He graduated from Central High School in 1958. After high school, he was hired by Kay Dee, where he worked in sales for over 40 years before retiring. Walter proudly served in the 185th Air National Guard for six years.

In his free time, Walter liked to go to the Whistle Stop Casino in North Sioux City. He was also a lifelong fan of the Washington Commanders (formerly Redskins) football team.

Walter is survived by his second wife, Judy Niebaum; his daughters, Dawn (Kyle) Hamman and Kristi (Steven) Mead; grandchildren, Kylie (Connor) Johnson, Kelsie Hamman; and his special friend, Jerry Baumgardner.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Carolyn DeHaan; his third wife, Shirley Schwartz; and his son, Douglas Niebaum.
