Teresa Marie Salsness

Teresa Marie Salsness, 62, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on September 14, 2026.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel (1801 Morningside Ave) with Visitation taking place one hour prior. Her final resting place will be Memorial Park Cemetery.

Teresa was born on October 14, 1963, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Rex and Joyce (Clark) Carnes. She graduated from East High School in 1983. After graduating, Teresa worked maintenance at Toy National Bank for several years. During this time, she met Bruce Salsness and the two were later joined in marriage. Teresa then decided to go back to school to become a nurse, later taking a position at St. Luke’s hospital. After 15 years of nursing, helping countless people, Teresa chose to retire so that she could take care of Bruce as he struggled with Parkinson’s Disease. He passed away in 2015. In 2022, Teresa met Dave Green and the two quickly became inseparable and shared four happy years together.

In her free time, Teresa loved to go on motorcycle rides with Dave, treat her loved ones to dinner at their favorite restaurants, go shopping and go on vacations. She loved animals and spent lots of time with her pets, especially her dog, Molly. She also took care of many stray cats and dogs.

Teresa will be remembered for her unwavering spirit of giving, her big heart, fun-loving attitude and great sense-of-humor. She was independent and always spoke her mind.

She is survived by her sisters; Jenny Murray of Sioux City, Iowa, and Elaine Carnes of Des Moines, Iowa; brothers, Tim (Rachel) Carnes of Tennessee, and Ron (Sheila) Carnes of Omaha, Nebraska; life-partner, Dave Green of Sioux City, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Bruce Salsness.
