Steven Ray Hoffman

Steven Ray Hoffman, 63, of North Sioux City, SD, passed away July 22, 2025, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 26, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave, Sioux City, IA 51106, with Chaplain Janell Norton officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm.

Steven was born July 2, 1962, to Raymond and Betty Lou (Karr) Hoffman. He was raised in Jefferson, SD and graduated from Jefferson High School. Steven got his CDL as soon as he was old enough and went to work as a school bus driver. He then began a long career as an over-the-road trucker, where he worked for K&B Trucking, Bekins Transportation, Thermo Bond Buildings, and Johnson Feed Inc. He was known to his fellow truckers and neighbors as someone who could always be turned to for a helping hand.

On July 8, 2012, Steven married Deborah Taylor and the two of them began their life together in North Sioux City, SD.

Steven is survived by his wife, Deborah Hoffman; daughters, Lisa (Mike) Raasch and Lina Schlichting and her friend (Chris Riley); four granddaughters; four grandsons; one great-grandson; brothers, Rick (Pam) Hoffman, Charlie (Jane) Hoffman, Kenneth Hutcheson and Dennis Hutcheson; sister, Linda Girard; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond Hoffman and Betty Lou Karr and his stepmother, Geraldine Hutcheson, and brother,Thomas Hoffman.

Steven will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
