Stanley A. Ratkiewicz
Stanley A. Ratkiewicz, 85, of Sioux City died suddenly Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at his residence.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. James Hanke officiating.
Stan was born July 30, 1921, in Sioux City, the son of Anthony and Anna (Alexandrovich) Ratkiewicz. He had been a lifetime resident of Sioux City. He attended Sioux City public schools, graduating from East High School. Following graduation, he joined the Milwaukee Railroad and spent nearly 40 years working with the railroad, retiring in 1983 as an engineer. He then worked as a security guard for Norwest Bank for a few years.
He married Charlotte L. Rodgers on Dec. 2, 1944, in Sioux City. She passed away Sept. 7, 1997, in Sioux City.
He enjoyed coffee every morning with a group of close, personal friends first at the Morningside Sunshine Store and later at Hy-Vee.
He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Susan and Larry Parks of Leavenworth, Kan.; a son and his wife, Michael and Claudia Ratkiewicz of Sioux City; and two grandchildren, Stacey Ratkiewicz and Elizabeth Parks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two sisters, Felecia McPerry and Sophia Nashleanas.
