Ronald O Ryden

Ronald O. Ryden, age 83, of Dakota City, NE, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Christy-Smith Funeral Home, Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ronald was born on November 11, 1940, the son of Herbert and Clarice (Johnson) Ryden. He was born and raised in Sioux City, IA. He graduated from Central High School in 1958. After graduation Ron went to work for the Iowa State Conservation Commission in Stone Park for 3 years before joining the Army. He was in the Army from 1962-1965, stationed in Germany.

He married Sharron Bennar in 1966, the couple were married for 57 years. Ron was always a city boy and fought moving to an acreage in 1975, now he would not have lived anywhere else. He worked for Sioux Tools in Sioux City for 37 years before retiring in 2002. Ron loved his Corvettes, owning 3 in his lifetime and would only drive Ford pickups.

Ron is survived by his wife Sharron Ryden; their children, Richard (Sandy) Ryden, Kevin (Kelley) Ryden, Todd (Alexa) Ryden, Elayne (Gregg) Page, Vaughn (Dawn) Ryden; 22 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; siblings, Kenny (Phyllis) Ryden, Barbara (Charles) Lanphear.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Al (Marian) Ryden.
