Roberta Mae Whitlock (Trobaugh)

Roberta Mae Whitlock, 69, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at her residence following a seven-year battle with cancer.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Valorie Heller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel. Roberta Mae Trobaugh was born March 24, 1938, in Sioux City, to Roy and Mae (Crittenden) Trobaugh. She attended Sioux City schools.

On March 22, 1958, she and Bennie Whitlock were united in marriage in California. They lived in California for seven years before returning to Sioux City.

She was a member of Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church. She enjoyed scrapbooking, country music and taking pictures at weddings and lots of pictures of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Bennie of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Alan Wayne and Bonnie of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Lisa and Royce Atkinson of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Dale and Elizabeth Whitlock of Hinton, Iowa; sisters and husbands, Kathryn Nelson and Susan Paugh, both of Sioux City, Millie and Bill Hogan of North Sioux City, Norma and Sterling McGinnis of Sioux City, Maryetta Seaton of Sergeant Bluff and Genevieve and James Frazee of Danbury, Wis.; brothers and wives, William of Centralio, Wash., Bruce and Esther of Sioux City, Roy and Isabell of Elk Point, S.D., and Jerry and Debbie of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Scott, Michael and Nicole Whitlock, David, Daniel and Jessie Atkinson and Siera Whitlock; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dennis and Eugene; and sisters, Maggie Gilkinson and Clara Hill.

Memorials may be directed to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center and/or Hospice of Siouxland.
