Rhonda B. Bullis

Sioux City, IA - Rhonda Bernice (Kamaus) Bullis peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends on June 9, 2023. After a courageous battle with cancer, Rhonda is now resting with the Lord.

A memorial service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, 1801 Morningside Ave., with visitation one hour prior. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.christysmith.com .

Rhonda was born December 9, 1959 to Lloyd and Deloris (Thompson) Kamaus in Decorah, Iowa. Rhonda grew up in West Union, Iowa and was confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. As a young woman, Rhonda was very involved in church activities, Girl Scouts, school activities, and Future Homemakers of America. She graduated from West Union High School with the class of 1978. She attended Iowa State for two years.

Rhonda and Darrell Bullis were married at First Lutheran Church near Ossian, Iowa on June 1, 1980. Rhonda enjoyed babysitting, working at a shoe store, and selling wedding dresses. Rhonda was known for her great cooking! Everyone especially enjoyed her brownies.

Through the years, Rhonda and Darrell moved due to being transferred by Fareway. They made many friends in the different cities where they lived. They lived in the Iowa cities of Ames, Independence, Sioux City, Ottumwa, Davenport, and Sergeant Bluff.

Rhonda and Darrell enjoyed participating with their sons in Boy Scouts. Together they were Boy Scout Leaders who organized activities and supported many young men in their Boy Scout adventures. It brought them great joy to celebrate both sons earning the highest rank in Boy Scouts, the Eagle Scout.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 43 years, Darrell. Her two sons. Reid Bullis (Sergeant Bluff, IA) and Joshua and his wife, Laura (Huse) Bullis (Waukee, IA) will miss their mother and all the fun times they had together as a family. Rhonda adored being Nana to Sven and Declan Bullis, sons of Josh and Laura.
