BRONSON, Iowa -- Rena Edna Kenney, 97, of Bronson passed away Thursday, July 5, 2007, at a care facility in Elk Point, S.D. She was the oldest living resident who was born and raised in Bronson.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Creek Presbyterian Church in Bronson, with Chaplain Lorna Peters officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
Rena was born Oct. 30, 1909, in Bronson, the daughter of William and Edna (Drake) Bryant. she was raised in Bronson and attended school there.
She married Cecil Kenney on March 5, 1928, in Sioux City. He passed away Jan. 29, 1995. She was a homemaker. She also did child care in her home for several years. She lived in the Bronson area her entire life except for the years she was in the nursing home in Elk Point, S.D.
She attended the Presbyterian church in Bronson. Her favorite pastimes included traveling, gardening, flowers, sewing, going to auctions and driving horse and antique buggies in parades.
Survivors include three children, Bonnie Mitchell of Sioux City, Pat Kenney and his wife, Connie of Sioux City and Joan and her husband, Larry Mosier of Bronson; 13 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary Ann Kenney; three brothers; and four sisters.
