Philip P. Ortmann, 72, died Friday, March 1, 2024, at his residence in Sioux City, IA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Friday, March 8, 2024, at Holy Cross Parish-Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Larkin Chapel, 2320 Outer Drive N., with a prayer service at 6:30 pm. Philip Paul Ortmann, the son of Joseph and Eileen (Kayser) Ortmann was born November 15, 1951, in Le Mars, IA. He graduated from Remsen St. Mary’s High School in 1970.
On August 3, 1974, Philip was united in marriage with Jane Waldschmidt in Remsen, IA. Jane died September 19, 2013.
Philip was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was active in the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed helping kids and attending sporting events and concerts. Philip also loved the outdoors, cooking, and baking.
Philip is survived by his children, Kevin (Amy) Ortmann of Sioux City, Chris (Beth) Ortmann of Grimes, IA, Jason (Allie) Ortmann of Sioux City; grandchildren, Ann Marie, James, Rachel, Alivia, Adyson, Audrey, Brooklynn, Chloe, and Harmony; siblings, Mike (Kathy) Ortmann of Storm Lake, IA, Tom Ortmann of Le Mars, IA, Valeria (Ken) Brown of Rapid City, SD, Alice (Vince) Galvin of Sioux City, Henry (Brenda) Ortmann of Centerville, IA; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a sister-in-law, Tina Ortmann.
