Michelle (Mikki) DeMers of Conroe, TX passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving sisters. A devoted family member, accomplished professional, and celebrated dog breeder, Mikki lived a full and impactful life marked by passion, purpose, and perseverance.

A celebration of life is planned for July 19, 2025, in Houston, TX with services in Sioux City, IA to come at a later date.

Mikki was born August 27, 1957, to Raymond and JoAnn DeMers. She was born and raised in Sioux City, IA. Mikki graduated from East High School in 1975 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Creighton University in 1979. Her intelligence, warmth, and curiosity touched the lives of many throughout her career and personal life.

She began her professional journey with Ford Motor Company, where she worked for ten years before continuing her career with Gulf State Toyota, Inc., where she dedicated 17 years of service. Mikki had a lifelong passion for dogs, especially Tibetan Terriers setting her legacy under her KiMik Kennel name. She earned national recognition for her dedication and excellence. Among her many accolades, Mikki was named the 2007 AKC Non-Sporting Breeder of the Year and was honored as the Top Tibetan Terrier Producer – Sire & Dam in both 2006 and 2007. In 2005, she was the proud breeder and owner of the Group Winner at both the Eukanuba Invitational and the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, two of the most prestigious events in the dog show world. Her achievements also include receiving the Pedigree Award five consecutive years from 2000 to 2004.

Despite her impressive accomplishments, Mikki remained humble and generous, always ready to share her knowledge and support fellow breeders and enthusiasts. Her legacy lives on through the dogs she raised with love and the many people she mentored and inspired.

Survivors include her sisters, Teri McCarthy of San Antonio, Texas; Lois DeMers of Conroe, Texas; Vikki and Al Clayton of Farmington, Minnesota; a brother-in-law, Steve Lamoureux of Wayne, Nebraska; Godmother/aunt, Kay Brown of Sioux City, IA; aunt, Nancy Riley of Sioux City, IA; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymon DeMers; mother, JoAnn DeMers; sister, Pam Lamoureux; brothers, Ray DeMers, Ron DeMers, and Rick DeMers; and nephew Brandon Collins.
