Martin P. Miglionico, 91, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away May 21, 2026, at home in Sioux City, Iowa, with his wife by his side. A service for Martin will be held at a later date.
Martin Miglionico was born April 14, 1935, in Pittston, PA to Charles and Angelina (DiAmico) Miglionico. Marty was the youngest of six children. The family moved to Philadelphia when he was younger, giving Marty the background for his tales of selling spices on the street corner and starting his early entrepreneurial days.
A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Marty served our country during the Korean War, but more importantly met the love of his life, his wife Louise (Hanson) Miglionico, while in the service. They met in April 1957 and married on August 10, 1957.
Marty and Louise lived in Philadelphia with the first two of their four children until moving to Sioux City, IA in 1960. At that time, Marty joined the plumbers trade union, working off and on as a plumber until his final retirement in the 2000s. His family kept him busy with their many homes even post-retirement, as Marty’s skills went beyond plumbing, and he was on call for many a furnace, toilet, air conditioner, you name it. Marty was a dedicated family man and was there for his wife and children however they needed him.
In addition to adding two more children to their family when they arrived in Iowa, Marty and Louise loved to socialize, attending dances and dinners with the neighbors. Marty would also hunt with his father-in-law and learned a thing or two about the Midwest, falling in love with the area and calling Iowa his home. Post-retirement, Marty’s green thumb would be found with his mini farm he created in the backyard of his home. Growing everything from petunias to tomatoes to corn.
Marty was an avid learner and worked with his hands. He was always into something and was famous for saying “if you have time to lean, you have time to clean.” Which employees at both restaurants he owned, Miglionico’s Pizzeria and Pizza Peddler, will always remember him for. He also provided Sioux City with an amazing pizza recipe and taught a generation of kids about dedicated work ethic. But his memories are beyond the workplace.
Marty loved his family and was thrilled to not only raise his kids, but his grandkids and great grandkids in the home he and his wife had for over 55 years in Morningside. The family was raised on love and respect. All were welcome. Just be good to one another.
If you knew Marty, he would be heard saying, “I will be blessed to see my grandkids graduate.” Then when he realized he was getting to see his six great-grandchildren grow up, he would tell everyone how thankful he was for every birthday he saw of theirs. Marty was fascinated with technology and was thrilled to have FaceTime to keep up with his growing family. All eight of his grandchildren loved their Pop Pop and there isn’t a train set, keyboard, typewriter, or pasta maker he wouldn’t get for them.
Martin is survived by his wife Louise Miglionico, children Monica Luther (Sioux City), Marty Miglionico (Sioux City), Jeanmarie and Robert Morse (Sioux City), grandchildren Jennifer Miglionico (Westerville, OH) and her children Gabe, Addison, Karsyn and Lauren, Taylor and Quinn Morse (UK) and their children Liam and Harry. He was preceded in death by his daughter Helen Miglionico.
