Marsha J. Jansen, 79, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on July 3, 2025.

Marsha was born on September 10, 1945, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Marvin and Marjorie (Goodman) Jansen. In her youth she was known as a great French Horn player and participated in the Sioux City Youth Symphony.

After graduating from Anthon-Oto High School in 1963, Marsha attended Morningside College, where she earned the nickname “Frenchie” for a year before changing paths and becoming a licensed beautician.

Marsha owned her own beauty salon in Greenville for 18 years before going to work for Matrix Beauty Supply, where she worked as a product use educator for 25 years. While with Matrix she lived in Kansas City, MO, Harrisburg, PA, Connecticut, and Saint Louis, MO and to Sioux City before her retirement in 2011.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling all over the United States and Mexico. During her time in Sioux City, she was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Marsha is survived by her sisters, Lauren Jansen of Sioux City, Iowa and Nancy (Bruce) Rayl of Seattle, Washington, Sherri (Randy) Quandt of Hinton, Iowa; grandchildren, Courtney Pietig, Nicole Pietig, Stacy Pietig and Hunter Pietig; 2 nieces and 3 nephews, Nova Gottsche, Joe Douglas, Allison Boeckenheuer, Christopher Jansen and Andrew Quandt; and 10 great-nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Sandy Pietig.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
