Marlyn Mae Arnett, 91, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 19, 2026, surrounded by family. Marlyn was married to her beloved husband Elgerd for 70+years. Elgerd preceded her in death just 38 days prior on April 11, 2026.

Services will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Faith United Presbyterian Church. Family visitation at 10am, Celebration of Life at 11am. Rev. David Koehler will be officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, is handling the services.

Marlyn Boggs was born on October 25, 1934, in Moville, Iowa. Marlyn attended Windy Hill one room Country School for her Elementary and Jr High years, she graduated from Bronson High School in 1953. She enjoyed playing 6-on-6 basketball which led to her being a lifelong sports fan. She loved attending and watching activities for all of her grandkids.

Marlyn married Elgerd L Arnett on September 11, 1955, at Elliott Creek Presbyterian Church in Bronson. From this loving marriage they had four children, Craig, LuAnn, Jeff and Lori. Marlyn held various positions with the Sioux City Community School District, ending her career serving nearly 30 years as the Building Aide at Irving Elementary.

Marlyn taught herself to make and decorate wedding cakes from her home. She made many over the years including all of her children’s cakes.

Marlyn loved her church family, she served as a Sunday School teacher, Cub Scout Leader, on the Board of Deacons, the Rebecca Circle, and she and Elgerd were named Presbyterians of the Year in 1999.

Marlyn was a proud Grandmother to seven Grandchildren as well as seven Great Grandchildren.

Marlyn is survived by her son, Craig & Cindee; daughter, LuAnn; son, Jeff; daughter, Lori & Lyndon Groth; grandchildren, Jon Arnett (Alice), Patrick Arnett (Vicki), Luke Groth (Becky), Jake Groth-Kyle (Dom), Leyna Murfield (Ben), and Miranda Norris; and great-grandchildren, Chester & Mabel, Kroy & Kaia, and Lyla, Jaxon and Mia.

Marlyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elgerd; her parents, Joseph Boggs & Margaret Irene (Clause) Boggs; brothers, Richard and Robert; sisters, Betty Ahlquist and Carolyn Thompson; and a granddaughter, Annie Arnett.

Marlyn was a woman of faith and loved the Lord. She enjoyed socializing with a cup of coffee, doing seek-a-words, playing cards and putting puzzles together, especially ones of Snowmen.

Memorials may be directed to Faith United Presbyterian Church where she was a loyal member for 67 years.
