Marilyn Mae LaScala

Marilyn LaScala, age 92, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 surrounded by family.   

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Marilyn was born on September 7, 1931, in Sioux City, Iowa to Arthur and Grace Carpenter.  She graduated from East High School in 1949 and worked for Northern Bell Telephone Company until she retired in 1984.  She enjoyed animals in all forms, but had a love especially for cats, you'd often catch her feeding the neighborhood cats as she could never let a cat near her go hungry.  You could find Marilyn in her home with a cat on her lap, bird watching, crocheting, coloring, or outside gardening.  Her biggest form of enjoyment was being with and taking care of her family.  Marilyn's witty charm and jokes knew how to put a smile on everyone's face as she could light up any room.  Her favorite color was pink and could usually be seen with some form of pink on.

She is survived by her sons; Keith LaScala, Don LaScala, Wife Debbie, Granddaughter Lacey and her Wife Sam, Grandson Taylor and his Wife Kaylee and Great Granddaughters Harper Jo and Kensley Jae. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Grace Carpenter; and son, Jay LaScala.
