Margaret E. Mackey

Margaret E. Mackey, 95, died Monday, June 9, 2025, in a care facility in Sioux City, IA.

A funeral service will be 2:00 pm Friday, June 13, 2025, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave., with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Margaret E. Nelson, the daughter of George and Fern (Gochee) Nelson was born January 6, 1930, in Salix, IA.

On June 4, 1955, Margaret was united in marriage with Harry W. Mackey in Sioux City. She worked in the housekeeping department at St. Luke’s Hospital for 23 years, retiring in 2003. Harry died October 26, 1999.

Margaret enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and listening to music.

Margaret is survived by two sons, David Mackey and Walter Mackey. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Lucy Cooley; and a brother, Wilburt Nelson.
