Lucinda M. Leyva

It’s with profound respect and solemn hearts that we announce the departure of our beloved loving Lucinda Marie (Cindy) Leyva. She was called home to her eternal rest on April 25, 2024, at a Fort Worth Hospital at the young age of 70.

The family invites you to pay respects and celebrate her life at 12:00 pm on May 18, 2024, at Christy Smith Funeral Home, Larkin Chapel (2320 Outer Dr. N., Sioux City, IA) with a visitation taking place one hour prior.

Cindy was born on May 28, 1953, in Sioux City, IA, to Harold and Bonnie (Winters) Bouck. She was the only daughter, and the apple of their eyes. Cindy was a strong, loving, independent woman with grace, dignity, and unwavering faith. She carried with her the values of her upbringing, nurturing a home filled with love and laughter. During her upbringing, Cindy and her family moved and lived in California until she was 15, then the family moved back to the Midwest, and lived her remained childhood in Elk Point, SD, where she graduated from high school. Cindy loved going on camping trips with her family and had a love for animals which included a monkey and a crazy horse. Cindy later loved to tell stories to her family about the best times of growing up.

Cindy was married in 1977, and from that marriage she was blessed with two amazing girls who meant everything to her, and later on raised all by herself. Cindy raised her girls in Sioux City, IA, until they too started their families. Cindy loved being a grandma, and loved when her family would visit. Cindy worked many manufacturing jobs in the Sioux City area, where she eventually retired when health issues started to arise. She was able to enjoy her retirement living with her youngest daughter and her family for a while, before joining oldest daughter and family in Fort Worth, TX, where she lived until her passing. Cindy’s hobbies included doing word search puzzles and coloring on her tablet. She would never miss an episode of her favorite TV shows: General Hospital, The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and House Hunters. She enjoyed the companionship of her beloved dogs, Milo and Lucky. She said many times that Milo was the son she never had! She loved both dogs very much until their passing.

Cindy is survived by her older brother Don (Marylou) Bouck of Burbank, SD; her younger brother Craig (Debra) Bouck of Burbank, SD; her beloved daughters, eldest Corren (Phil) Arredondo of Fort Worth, TX, her youngest Cesilia (Christopher) Jackson of Sergeant Bluff, IA; six amazing grandchildren, Tyler Bellis and partner LeeAnn, Jacob Bellis and partner Sydney, Brandon Bellis and partner Lilee, Landon Jackson, Emiley Jackson, and Bryson Arredondo; two cherished great-granddaughters, Chloe and Bailey Bellis; step-grandchildren Jordan Ryan and Ysabella Arredondo; and several nieces and nephews.

Cindy was preceded in death, joining our lord and savior Jesus Christ, by her parents, Harold and Bonnie; her oldest brother, Russell Weavill; and her beloved dogs, Milo and Lucky.

The family asks that guests wear blue in honor of Cindy, and to reflect on a life well-lived, and the fight she fought, her legacy, kindness, and a soul at peace with no more pain. May her memory live on in her family and be a beacon of the love and laughter she gave and shared with the people in her life.
