Louise Elizabeth Roberts (Bell)

June 18, 1923 — January 3, 2008

Louise E. Roberts, 84, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Indian Hills Nursing Home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with Pastor Mark McGlohon of Bethel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Louise was born June 18, 1923, in Bloomfield, Neb., to Ernest and Elizabeth (Stampe) Boll. She grew up and attended school in Bloomfield. She moved to Sioux City in 1949, and had been a resident here ever since. Louise was a custodial engineer for the Sioux City Community Schools for 22 years, retiring in 1986. Later, she was a greeter at Wal-Mart in South Sioux City for five years.

She enjoyed watching game shows, doing crossword puzzles, playing bingo, crocheting, flower gardening and creating memories with family and friends.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Kelly of Sioux City; a son, Gary and Cyndie Roberts of Ceylon, Minn.; a daughter, Diane and Brad Ulven of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Penny Stotz of Akron, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emma Nielsen of Jackson, Minn., and Alvina Janssen of Richmond, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Leslie "Butch" Merchen; two sisters, Bertha Miller and Ida Carstens; and two brothers, William and Fritz Boll.

Pallbearers will be Gary Roberts Jr., Nicholas Roberts, Jackelyn Roberts, Megan Linton, Jeremy Hansen and Ralph Bata.
