MOVILLE, Iowa—Loren J. Wingert Sr., 60, of Moville died Sunday, June 17, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital following a nine-month battle with leukemia.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with Chaplain Stacey Gerhart officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Loren was born March 10, 1947, in Bronson, Iowa, the son of William and Leila (Turman) Wingert. He grew up and attended school in the area, graduating from Lawton (Iowa) High School in 1966. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Army Reserves.
On May 26, 1973, he married Barbara Kay Nugent in Kingsley, Iowa. Together, they made their home in Moville. He was most recently employed with Cloverleaf Cold Storage.
He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wingert of Moville; his parents, William and Leila Wingert of Bronson, Iowa; six children, Jay Wingert and his fiancee, Jill Flammang of Battle Creek, Iowa, Troy Wingert and his special friend, Holly Parr of Battle Creek, Iowa, Melissa and her husband, Scott Houston of Long View, Texas, Marcy and her husband, Jason Palsma of Lawton, Iowa, Molly Wingert of Moville and James Wingert of Moville and James Wingert of Gladstone, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, Shelby, Gaven, Rebecca, Alex, Peyton, Brandon, Natasha, Matthew, Sara, Justin and Kurtus; three brothers, his twin, Larry Wingert and his wife, Linda of Lawton, Iowa, and twin brothers, Dwight Wingert and his wife, Cathy and Duane Wingert, all of Bronson, Iowa; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
