Lois Ferne Seible (Flom)

Lois F. Seible, 83, of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at Countryside Retirement Home in Sioux City.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave. in Sioux City. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lois Ferne (Flom) Seible was born on May 11, 1924, in Maskell, Neb., to John A. and Mary (Hansen) Flom. She attended and graduated from high school in Newcastle, Neb., with the class of 1942. She taught school for two years after high school before moving to Sioux City.

Lois and Vincent Seible were married on Dec. 21, 1947, in South Sioux City. She worked in the accounting department at Swift & Company in Sioux City for many years. After Swift & Company closed, she worked at Thorpes Jewelry and then worked at Homer Culley Accounting Firm until her first retirement. She came out of retirement and went to work in the accounting department at Sioux Sales, retiring in the early 90’s.

Lois was a member of First Lutheran Church in Sioux City, was on the Evangelism Committee, served as treasurer, stewardship chairperson of the church women, taught Sunday school for 17 years and was a Junior League advisor. She was a member of the Sons of Norway.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Diana and husband, Jim Jepsen of Sioux City; her son, Mark and wife, Connie Seible of Merrill, Iowa; a brother, Randall and wife, Eva Flom of Newcastle; sisters, Maxine and husband, Vern Dodds of Everett, Wash., Donna and husband, Robert Hahn of Arlington, Wash., and Darlene Dunkelberger of Elk Mountain, Wyo.; grandchildren, Cheri and husband, Jamie Johnson, James and wife, Lindy Reeser, Jonathan, Nicole and Jennifer Seible; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Katelyn, Steven, Stacy and Shantel Johnson, Madison and Bryson Reeser; and a sister-in-law, Rose Flom.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vincent in 1966; a brother, Duane Flom in 1996; and a sister, Viola in infancy.
