Linda Higgins (Ramsland), originally from Duluth, MN, passed away on August 24, 2025, after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
She was born on April 11, 1947, in Duluth, MN to Odin and Vivian Ramsland. Linda grew up in Duluth MN, while also creating many childhood memories up at the family cabin in Iron River, WI. She was a graduate of Duluth East High School class of 1965. Linda attended the University of North Dakota where she received a degree in Elementary Education and was an active participant within her sorority of Kappa Alpha Theta. After graduation, she became a teacher in Great Falls, MT.
Linda moved home to plan her wedding to Michael S. Higgins, also of Duluth, MN. They married on August 8, 1970, at First United Methodist Church. Linda immediately joined Mike for his second year stationed in Tokyo, Japan with the Navy during the Vietnam war. While there she taught English and made many lifelong friends who were still a big part of her life until the end.
Once at home in MN, Linda continued to stay active as a devoted wife, mother of three children, Junior League volunteer and any other endeavors she could find to support her VERY social nature. Dinner parties in support of friendships and Mike’s career were her specialty. Linda continued to support Mike with a move to Yuma, AZ, in 1993. There she continued to teach, learn, and embrace the Southwest culture, even coining one of her all-time favorite appetizers: Yuma Surprise.
Following Yuma, Linda and Mike made a brief stop in Cincinnati, OH before finally marking a permanent home back in Iron River, WI, upon the purchase of their cabin in 2005. However, they lived the best of both worlds and became snowbirds. They summered at the cabin and wintered down in Bonita Bay, FL, for many more years where they enjoyed old and new friends, golfing, and mom always loved a good shopping endeavor.
When Linda became a grandmother, her biggest goal was achieved. She was engaged in all they did and was their biggest champion. Every summer the grandkids were welcomed for weeks at a time at the Higgins family cabin, appropriately nicknamed “Camp Higgins”.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Elizabeth. She is survived by her husband, Mike; her children, Mike (Kathryn), Amy (Todd), and Katie (Josh); grandchildren, Emma, Hayden, Allison, Katelyn, Lindsay, Odin, Zane and Rhys; her brother, Jim (Jane); sister, Nancy; nieces; nephews; and many loving family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be on October 18th, 2025, at Minnesota Horse and Hunt from 2pm to 5pm (2920 220th St. E, Prior Lake, MN 55372).
A short program will begin at approximately 3:30 pm, the family would welcome all who would like to stay!
In lieu of Flowers memorial, contributions in support of the place she loved most can be sent to The Pike Lake Chain Association c/o Amy Wangensteen (10235 Pine Lake Rd, Iron River, WI 54847).
