LaVonne M. Leaver, 76, of Sioux City died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, in Sioux City.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Wolff officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
LaVonne was born Dec. 2, 1930, in Soldier, Iowa, the daughter of Conrad and Olga (Larsen) Rude. She grew up and attended school in Soldier, graduating from Soldier High School in 1948. She moved to Sioux City in 1949.
She met Floyd Leaver and they were married Oct. 6, 1950, in Huron, S.D. The couple made their home in Sioux City as soon as Floyd returned from the service. The couple raised four children, Danny, Bruce, Barbara and Dean. They celebrated 56 years of marriage together all of it in the same home.
Her hobbies were NASCAR, bingo and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd Leaver of Sioux City; four children, Danny Leaver of Sioux City, Bruce Leaver of Sioux City, Barbara and George Lensink of Sioux City and Dean and Jana Leaver of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Leann Daniels, Mike Daniels, Billie and James Williams, Christy and Curt Schnee, Kim Leaver, Jason Leaver and special friend, Tracy Bertrand, Brandon Morgan and Greg Leaver; two stepgrandchildren, Nathan Moore and James Jennings; eight great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Kyle, Kody, Lacey, Dillan, Erica, Ethan and Ivan; a sister, Alice Gosch of Onawa, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clayton and Wilbur Rude; two sisters, Anna Marie Rhomsdale and Helen Swain; and a niece, Karen Gosch.
