Larry Edward Stauber

Larry Edward Stauber, 89, of Lawton, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, at a local hospital in Sioux City.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (419 Jones St, Moville, IA) with a Visitation taking place one hour prior. His final resting place will be at Arlington Township Cemetery in Moville, IA.

Larry was born on February 4, 1937, at the family home near Bayard, IA, to Anton (Tony) and Lucille (Korwes) Stauber. The family moved to a farm south of Coon Rapids, IA, in 1938, where Larry attended the Coon Rapids schools. After finishing school, Larry enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp on November 17, 1955, and spent most of his time serving in Hawaii. Larry was honorably discharged on November 14, 1958. He returned home and began working in construction for Booth and Olson.

On February 3, 1962, Larry was united in marriage to Merideth Ann Miller at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manilla, IA. The couple were together for 40 years until Merideth’s passing on January 26, 2003.

Larry’s career in construction required him to travel as he worked in road construction for Boswell Construction and owned his own company, Stauber - Peterson Earth Moving and Excavating Co., from 1978 to 1980. He went to work at Port Neal Power Plant in Sioux City in 1979, where he was the superintendent, before retiring in 1999. Even after retiring, Larry continued to do excavating with his Bobcat and work on small engine repairs.

Larry was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville, IA, since 1968, and a member of the Fr. O'Reilly Knights of Columbus Council #8232 in Moville.

Larry loved to help people, he found joy in repairing and fixing anything – he could be found fixing lawnmower small engines all over town. He loved using his Bobcat to move snow.
