Judy G. Verlinden

Judith G. “Judy” Verlinden, 76, died Monday, August 19, 2024, at a nursing home in Grimes, IA.

A visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 am at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, with burial to follow in Graceland Park Cemetery.

Judy, the daughter of Charles and Dorothy (Walden) Verlinden was born March 11, 1948, in Sioux City, IA. She graduated from East High School in 1966 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Iowa in 1970. Judy later went on to earn her Master’s Degree. Judy was employed as an Elementary Teacher for Bettendorf School District, retiring in 2010 after 40 years of service.

Judy enjoyed reading and watching movies.

Judy is survived by her sisters, Nancy Silverthorn of Johnston, IA and Vickie Verlinden of Florence, MA; brother, Matt Verlinden of Cambridge, MA; and nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother-in-law, Jack Silverthorn.
