Joseph L. "Joe" Grimoskas, 77, died Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Unity Point Health-St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, IA. He will be cremated as per his request.

A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave., with visitation one hour prior. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.christysmith.com .

Joseph Lee “Joe” Grimoskas, the son of Frank and Dorothy (Tymkowicz) Grimoskas was born September 17, 1944, in Sioux City, IA. He graduated from East High School. Joe then enlisted in the Merchant Marines, where he served for two years.

On April 8, 1972, Joe was united in marriage with Maralyn Blair in Dakota City, NE. For many years Joe introduced Maralyn as his “lovely wife.” Joe was employed at Sioux City Storage as a Forklift Operator for 23 years. He then went on to Curly’s Foods for the next seven years, until his retirement.

Joe was a member of the Sioux City 4 Wheel Drive Club. He participated in drag races in Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Minnesota. He also enjoyed riding his Gold Wing motorcycle with his wife. Hobbies included bowling, fishing, and working on jigsaw puzzles. Many of the puzzles were framed and were used to decorate their home.

Joe is survived by his wife, Maralyn; son, Curt Grimoskas of Charlotte, NC; sister, Pat Grimoskas of Sioux City; sister-in-law, Laura Blair of Sioux City; cousin, Jim Tymkowicz of Sioux City; and special friends, Cyndi and Bradey Hanson. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank Grimoskas; in-laws, Leo and Marcella Blair; brother-in-law, Wayne Blair; sisters-in-law, Louise Blair and Rita Schlotman; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
