Johnnie William Prescott

John William Prescott died on August 18, 2025, at Holy Spirit Retirement home.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 10:30 am at Westminster Presbyterian Church (2915 Glenn Ave, Sioux City, IA 51106). Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel (1801 Morningside Ave). His final resting place will be Memorial Park Cemetery.

John was born May 9, 1934, to John and Johanna Prescott. He attended East High School. On September 8, 1951, he married Joyce Sweisberger. During their 57 years together they raised 4 children, enjoyed golfing, bowling and dancing together. After Joyce’s death, John married Amy Klein in April 2011.

John worked for over 60 years in the plumbing and heating industry. He was regarded as one of the best plumbers in Sioux City. He started his career at Prescott Plumbing but worked the majority of his years at Hagan Plumbing and Heating. He finished his career at Midwestern Mechanical.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Klein; a daughter, Charleah Prescott of Des Moines, Iowa; two sons, Jeff and wife Ellen (Warren) Prescott of South Sioux City, and Gary and wife Vickie (Nagel) Prescott of Sioux City; brothers Tom (Oriene) and Bob; sisters Janice Culver and Barbara Dunlevy; grandchildren, Jacob Frahm (Candy), Ashley Ellensohn (Andy), Amanda Seubert (Keith), Katie Kvidera (Zach) and Joe Prescott; seven great-grandchildren; Amiya, Aisley, Garett, Brinley, Kolbe, Kaleb and Ketcher and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; son, John; brother, Bill and sister, Johanna (Toots).
