JoAnne was born on March 13, 1945, at the Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City, IA, to Marvin and Helen (Lounsbury) Burnett. She attended East High School and went on to study Nursing earning her LPN. She married early in life and, in addition to being a loving wife and a wonderful mother to Craig, Kim, and Sheila, she had many different occupations. Some of the jobs she enjoyed were housekeeping and house sitting, being a hostess and waitress, farming, creating and sewing items for selling at craft fairs. She was a woman of many talents. She was an accomplished seamstress; artist and she liked to write poetry and verses. Her knowledge of rocks and minerals was phenomenal, and she shared her love and knowledge of them with everyone around her. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning, collecting rocks and going to rock and mineral shows. She was an avid bowler and participated in a tournament in Las Vegas. She loved spending time with family and friends and one of her favorite things to do each year was going to her “Cousin’s Reunion” to have fun and catch up with family. She put her trust in Jesus as her Savior and His love shown through her as a bright shining light that everyone was drawn to. No matter what was happening in her life, whether it was having a test or procedure done at the hospital, shopping, or some other adventure, she always took the time to listen to those around her and ask if she could pray with them. She shared the love of Christ with everyone. She was a Representative for the National Kidney Foundation and wrote various articles addressing living with kidney failure and dialysis. The Sioux City Journal featured an article about her dialysis. She was blessed to lead the prayer team at Heartland Baptist Church for many years and enjoyed helping with different things around the church.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband Richard Jeffs, son Craig (Susan), daughter Kim (Mike), son-in-law Dale, and stepchildren Wayne, Chris, and Laurie, Steve, Susan, and Tony. Approximately 21 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, with one on the way, sisters in law Mary, Collette, and Char as well as many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two previous husbands Darrell and Don, daughter Sheila, infant Son, brother Paul, grandson David, and infant great-great granddaughter.
