Jacquelyn Dorothy "Jackie" Gilfert

Jacquelyn "Jackie" Gilfert, 74, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be noon Thursday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Jacquelyn Dorothy Gilfert was born May 13, 1933, to William and Bess Mae (Levis) Gilfert, in Emerson, Neb. She attended and graduated from Emerson High School. She lived in Emerson until moving to Sioux City in 1956. She was a homemaker and day care provider.

She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church. She adored her grandchildren and talking about them. She had a great love for Ireland and her ancestry, making more than one trip there. She enjoyed Irish music, the O'Neill Brothers, walking, reading, talking and laughing.

She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Debra and Michiel Flowers of Des Moines and Jan and Tommy Schwartz of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Scott and Karri McCallum of Oskaloosa, Iowa; brothers, Billy Gilfert of Emerson and Timmy Gilfert and his wife, Kaye of Norfolk, Neb.; sisters, Leone Jager of Wayne, Neb., Vivian and her husband, Norm Fitzpatrick of Waterloo, Iowa, and Mollian Heikes of Dakota City; 11 grandchildren, Jamey, Jason and Jenna Schrick, Nathan and Breanna Schwartz, Bessie, Seth, Keegan, MacKenzie, Jackson and Logan McCallum; a great-grandchild, Kristopher Anderson; and a brother-in-law, Glen Macklem of Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and six brothers and sisters.
