Jacob Peter "Jake" Stalenger

October 9, 1913 — March 3, 2008

Jacob P. "Jake" Stalenger of Sioux City passed away Monday, March 3, 2008, at the Embassy Nursing and Rehab Center in Sergeant Bluff.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Don Carlock officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com .

Jacob Peter Stalenger was born Oct. 9, 1913, in Fessenden, N.D. He served in the U.S. Army fro 1942 to 1946, earning the Bronze Star Medal.

He and Roberta May Loomis were married in New Rockford, N.D., in 1947. Roberta passed away in September 1967. On March 31, 1974, he and Vera Mae Beals were married in Sioux City.

He had lived in Granite Falls, Minn., Fargo, N.D., Moorhead, Minn., and Berkley, Calif., before moving to Sioux City. he worked as a self-employed contractor and for numerous companies in the construction industry doing concrete work.

He was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his son, Don and Jan of Roseville, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Roberta in 1967; his wife, Vera in 2005; and six brothers and sisters.
