Ivy Lora Clausen

Ivy Lora Clausen, 49, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024, surrounded by her family after a long brave battle with cancer.

Services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Christy Smith Funeral Homes Morningside Chapel (located at 1801 Morningside Ave in Sioux City) with Pastor Paul Peterson of Morningside Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the funeral home. Ivy was born April 3, 1974, in Luverne, Minnesota, to Terry and Madonna (Bottjen) Moss. She attended Sergeant Bluff - Luton Community Schools where she graduated with the class of 1993. She obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Dakota. Ivy later earned her master’s degree at the University of Nebraska Omaha.

She married Todd D. Clausen on April 17, 2004, and made their home on an acreage just outside Sioux City, where they raised their two children, Samuel Raine and Laryn Janice who are both students at East High School. 

During her career, Ivy worked as a social worker at Siouxland Mental Health, the Department of Veteran Affairs and most recently at Northwest AEA. 

Ivy's favorite activity was being a dedicated and loving mother to her children, Sam and Laryn. Her concern for their well-being after her cancer diagnosis was a big part of her courageous battle. 

Ivy is survived by her son Samuel, daughter Laryn, parents Terry and Madonna (Bottjen) Moss, sisters Tami (Andy) White, Katie (Chris) White and Jessi (Darin) Jensen, father in-law Larry Clausen, sister in-law Tami (Jim) Daane, brother in-law Tim (Paula) Clausen, grandmother in-law Marvis Hendrickson, along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Todd, mother in-law Dorothy Clausen, paternal grandparents Gordon and Irma Moss, maternal grandparents Virgil and Lorraine Bottjen, and her nephew Christopher Clausen Daane.
