Gloria Agnes Kistner

Gloria Agnes Kistner, 79 of Sioux City, Iowa died on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City, Iowa.

A Memorial service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Grace United Methodist Church with the Reverend John Christianson officiating, with visitation one hour prior at the church. Gloria was born October 17, 1943, in Baudette, Minnesota, to Kenneth and Evelyn (Bannert) Persoon. She moved to Sioux City in 1968 and worked at St. Joseph Hospital.

In December of 1979, she married Faye L. Kistner. The couple had one son, Kyle. The couple later divorced. In August of 1988, Gloria decided to continue her education at Western Iowa Tech Community College, graduating in May 1990. That August, she started at Morningside College and graduated in December of 1992 earning a Bachelor of Science degree with a Business Administration major and a Psychology minor.

After graduating she worked for several area businesses between 1992 and 1996. In 1997 she went to work at AEA (Area Education Association), she retired in June 2014.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the bible study group and taught Sunday School for many years. Her hobby was knitting, and she enjoyed being a part of her knitting group. She loved spending time with her family and all her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Kyle & Nickie Kistner of Sioux City, IA, four step children; Kelly (Pat) Kistner, Kirk (Laurie) Kistner, Kristy (Steve) Sandon, and Kory (Penni) Kistner, 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, three brothers, Del (Sandy) Persoon, Keith (Geraldine) Persoon and Doug (Rebecca) Persoon, two sisters, Bonnie Peterson and Janet Lee. She was preceded in death by her parents.
