LAWTON, Iowa -- Georgina Helen "Gg" (Davidson) Grigg, 92, a long time Lawton resident died peacefully Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at Char-Mac Assisted Living in Lawton.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton, with the Rev. Peggy Hegeman officiating. Family graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Banner Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.

Mrs. Grigg was born Sept. 3, 1915, at her parent's home in rural Kingsley, Iowa, the first of six children of George and Nancy (Bates) Davidson. She graduated from Pierre (S.D.) High School in 1933. She was employed as a certified public accountant secretary for eight years in Sioux City.

She married Thomas F. Grigg on Sept. 8, 1943, at the Presbyterian Church in Lawton. They farmed in the Lawton area for 37 years and continued the legacy of farming the land that is now passed on to the third generation of Griggs.

Through her love of family and helping others, she was an outstanding role model. Always volunteering with loving kindness, she was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served as an officer for 54 years. She made more than 160 lap robes for care centers and managed books for the neighborhood (Golden Acres) water fund. She was active in her church, serving as church treasurer for 15 years, was ordained as a church elder and was involved in Presbyterian Women.

Thankful to be in her own home until August 2007, she enjoyed family gatherings. She also enjoyed traveling, growing her own garden produce, sewing, knitting, crossword puzzles, cards, board games and reading.

Survivors include four children, Al "Bert" and Connie Grigg of Everly, Iowa, Nancy and Jim Howard of Lincoln, Neb., Marjean and Dennis Jones of Auckland, New Zealand, and Curt and Bonnie Grigg of Lawton; eight grandchildren, Kevin Grigg of Spencer, Iowa, Tracey and Steven Schuver of Everly, Iowa, Tam and Milton Baca of Albuquerque, N.M., Thomas and Julie Howard of Cedar Creek, Neb., Curt Jones and Kelly Jones of Auckland, New Zealand, Jessica Grigg of Denver, Colo., and Luke Grigg of Bozeman, Mont.; three great-granddaughters, Bailee and Kaylee Baca of Albuquerque, N.M., and Kia Grigg of Everly, Iowa; two sisters, Jean Eberly of Lake Helen, Fla., and Mary Hays of Lawton; and a brother and his wife, Norm and Joyce Davidson of Sioux City.
