Freddie Allen Minter

November 25, 1961 — January 5, 2008

Freddie A. Minter, 46, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief battle with cancer.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com .

Freddie was born Nov. 25, 1961, in Sioux City. He grew up and attended school in South Sioux City.

He married Tracy L. Steele on April 23, 1983, in Elk Point, S.D. They moved to Sioux City later that year and had resided here ever since. He was employed with John Morrell and Co. for 15 years. For the last two years, he was a laborer for the Labors Local Union 430 in Sioux City.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Third Ward since 1990. He enjoyed being outdoors, helping others, spending time with family and friends, music and bike riding. He also loved to work and was a hard worker.

Survivors include his wife, Tracy of Sioux City; four sons, Michael of Sioux Falls, S.D., Dustin, Nathan and Tyler Minter, all of Sioux City; his mother, Barbara Minter of South Sioux City; a brother, Larry and Roberta Minter of Jefferson, S.D.; sisters, Marlene and Darrell Stinger of Sioux Falls, S.D., Pam and John McQuillen of Hermitage, Tenn., and Cindy Nimmer of South Sioux City; a brother, Tim and Shannon Hubert of Sioux City; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Brandon; and his father.
