Emma L. Giles, 93, died Friday, October 17, 2025, at her residence in North Sioux City, SD.
There is no visitation or service planned at this time.
Emma Lou Lindley, the daughter of Hobert and Ruby (Lane) Lindley was born October 28, 1931, in Hannibal, MO. She was one of eight children born to this union. As a teenager, Emma worked at a sanitarium in Macon, MO. She then moved to Monte Vista, CO where she worked until her marriage.
On November 14, 1949, Emma was united in marriage with Gerald Giles in Monte Vista, CO. She was a housewife and mother, until Gerald’s passing in 1992. Emma then worked at The Whistlestop Casino from her 60’s to her 80’s.
Emma had a weekly recipe column in The Sioux City Journal called, “From the files of Emma Giles” in the 1970’s. She was a member of Women’s VFW, TOPS, and Ladies Auxiliary Fire Department in North Sioux City. Emma enjoyed Bingo, crocheting, and decorating cakes.
Emma is survived by her children, Mike (Barb) Giles, Dan (Kim) Giles, and Julie Brown; grandchildren, Joleen Masters, Joshua and Justin Mullinix, Benjamin and Luke Giles, Jennifer Smith, Kathryn Giles, and Nick Brown; great-grandchildren; and siblings, Lola Wolf, William (Judy) Lindley, and Doris (Virgil) Varner. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Jackie Giles and JoAnn Mullinix; son-in-law, Tam Mullinix; daughter-in-law, Jane Giles; brothers, Wayne, Delbert, Floyd; and sister, Iona Edmonds.
