Elgerd LeRoy Arnett, 95, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 11, 2026. Elgerd was married to his beloved wife Marlyn for 70+ years.
Services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Faith United Presbyterian Church. Family Visitation at 10am, Celebration of Life at 11am with Military Honors. Interment will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, is handling the services.
Elgerd was born on December 10, 1930, in Bronson IA. He was the 5th of 6 siblings. After graduating from Bronson High School, Elgerd attended Iowa State University for one year before entering the US Navy. He served for 4 years as an Aviation Machinists Mate on various aircraft carriers around the world. He was a proud US Veteran of the Korean War.
Elgerd married Marlyn M. Boggs on September 11, 1955, at Elliott Creek Presbyterian Church in Bronson. From this loving marriage they had 4 children, Craig, LuAnn, Jeff and Lori. Elgerd worked for Williams TV & Appliance as their “Lonely” Maytag Repairman for over 40 years. There was not much Elgerd could not fix!
Elgerd was a proud grandfather to 7 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.
Elgerd is survived by his loving wife Marlyn, son Craig & Cindee, daughter LuAnn, son Jeff, daughter Lori & Lyndon Groth, brother Ronnie, grandchildren Jon (Alice), Patrick (Vicki), Luke (Becky), Jake (Dom), Leyna (Ben), Miranda, great-grandchildren Chester & Mabel, Kroy & Kaia, and Lyla, Jaxon and Mia.
Elgerd was preceded in death by his parents, Ellie & Agnes (Trobaugh), sisters Dorothy, Fern, LaVerne and Ann, and a granddaughter Annie.
Elgerd lived by his faith and the love of God, which he passed on to his family. He was a quiet man but loved a good card game, getting Stars and giving quarters to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to Faith United Presbyterian Church where he was a member and served for 67 years.
