DeLoris Ann Nitzschke, 89 of Lawton, Iowa died on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Pioneer Valley Nursing & Rehab in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa surrounded by her family.
A Celebration of her life will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday July 5th, 2025, at Redeemer Lutheran Church (located at 3204 South Lakeport Street Sioux City, Iowa 51106) with the Rev. David Zirpel and Rev. Russell Senstad officiating. Interment will be in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton, IA.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3204 South Lakeport, Sioux City, Iowa.

DeLoris was Born Thursday, March 19, 1936, in the village of Berne in Crawford County, Iowa, to Henry D. and Arleta (Bargenquast) Bockelmann. The family later moved to a farm near Smithland where she grew up and attended School graduating in 1954 from Smithland High School. DeLoris went to work at the Warrior Hotel waiting on tables in the restaurant. She was approached to take a job at the Golden Pheasant in Remsen, so she moved there where she met Andrew D. Nitzschke who had just returned from serving in the Army during the Korean conflict. They were married February 20, 1955, in Remsen. DeLoris owned and operated Dairy O and Coffee Nook in Remsen. The couple moved to Lawton in 1959, and DeLoris stayed home while the children, Stuart, Jeff, and Cindy were growing up. When the children were off on their own, she went back to working outside the home as the office manager at United Van Lines, retiring in 2003 at the age of 67.
DeLoris was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City and a former member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton. Belonging to the Lutheran Women's Missionary League at both churches. She also served as the Sunday school superintendent and helped with vacation bible school for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Post 718 Auxiliary. Her favorite past-time was working on craft projects.
Survivors include her sons Stuart Nitzschke, Jeff (Holly) Nitzschke, daughter Cindy (R. Scott) Herbold, 6 grandchildren; Heidi Boeschen, Kirby Nitzschke and fiancé Micah, A.J. (Brooke) Nitzschke, Robert (Grace) Herbold, David (Shawnee) Herbold, William (Mackenzie) Herbold, 6 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Andrew, grandson Dustin Nitzschke, sister Pauline Yockey, and three brothers Norman Bockelmann, Ronald Bockelmann and David Bockelmann.
