Catherine Eunice McSparran (March)

Catherine E. McSparran, 88, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home.

Catherine Eunice March was born Oct. 29, 1918, to Esma (Hummel) and Edmond March, in Sioux City. She graduated from East High School.

She and Gerald "Jerry" McSparran were married Aug. 29, 1937, in Elk Point, S.D. She raised six children at various locations in California, Nebraska and Iowa, with the help of her husband, Jerry. Jerry passed away in April 1982. She lived in the Shire Apartments in Sioux City for 20 years.

She loved to visit her children in California and New Mexico and be with her grandchildren. She made many friends at the Shire Apartments and at her church, St. James United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and shopping with her friends and sisters and traveling.

Left to cherish her memory are a son and his wife, Harold "Hal" and Darlene of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; daughters, Nancy Ann and her husband, Loren Moser of California, Kathleen "Kathy" Hippard of California, a daughter-in-law, Kathy McSparran of New Mexico; a sister, Patricia "Pat" Henry of Lawton, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law and his wife, Jim and Mary McSparran of Dakota Dunes; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry in 1982; four brothers; four sisters; two sons, George and Dennis; a daughter, Eunice Hare; and a son-in-law, James Hippard.

She will be missed by all who knew her. Thanks to the staff at Westwood and Hospice of Siouxland for their kindness to our loved one.
