Brecken Danrek Novotny

Brecken Danrek Novotny, 9-month old son of Brittany Brewer and Chris Novotny of Sioux City, reunited with God Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007. He passed in the loving arms of his parents and grandparents as a result of Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church in South Sioux City, with the Revs. Daniel Wittrock and Richard Sitzman officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Larkin Chapel. Brecken was born to proud and gracious parents, Brittany Brewer and Chris Novotny. He was brought into this world with a great amount of love and happiness. He was our example of strength and courage. He was our warrior, who fought a prolonged battle among everyone who loved him. He had a charismatic personality that was backed by a beautiful soul. He loved singing along to the familiar tune, "Lovin' You".
Brecken also enjoyed reading and dancing with Mommy, finding the most comfort in his mother's arms. He was a very smart little boy who never failed to put a smile on the faces of those who have met him for the first time. Some more remarkable traits of his were his toothless grin, his perfection of the game, "possum" and his uncanny ability to speak with his eyes. He allowed us to realize the true value of life. We were blessed with an amazing son who we will proudly love and cherish forever in our hearts.
He is survived by his parents, Brittany Brewer and Chris Novotny; grandparents, Ren'e and Daniel Brewer and Rick and Elise Novotny; great-grandparents, Dee Dee Roussin, Richard and Ramona Meuret and Clarence and Clyda Novotny; a special grandaunt and granduncle, Jeannette and Joseph Peterson; aunts and uncles, Bryce and Blayne Brewer, Nick and Molly, Jamie Novotny, Kelli and Tommy Rademacher.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Brecken's medical caretakers.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Brecken Novotny Fund at Security National Bank of Sioux City. A donation will be made toward finding a cure for SMA.
