Beverly A. “Bev” Maxfield, 96, of Sioux City, passed away on September 28, 2025.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel.
Bev was born on September 1, 1929, in Sioux City to R. H. “Rock” and Hazel Maxfield.
Bev grew up in the Morningside area of Sioux City. She attended Whittier Elementary School, East Junior High school, and East High School, graduating in June 1947.
Bev began her 45-year career at Iowa Public Service Company (IPS) in September 1947. She retired in September 1992 as Assistant Corporate Secretary. Bev was the first woman to be named an officer of IPS.
Following her retirement, Bev joined the Southridge Ladies Golf Club. She became a member of the St. Luke’s Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, serving on its Board and volunteering in the Glass Apple Gift Shop at the hospital. Bev also volunteered at all the Nike golf Tournaments at Dakota Dunes. She also enjoyed visiting Sanibel Island in Florida.
Bev enjoyed all sports. She was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
She was a 50-year member of Morningside Presbyterian Church and past member of the Church Choir.
Bev is survived by a cousin, Mike (Linda) Gunther of Hutchinson, Kansas, and many second and third cousins.
Bev was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Betty Maxfield.
