Barbara Louise Duzik, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday December 13, 2025, at the age of 75.
Barb was born February 25, 1950, to Jerome & Lois (Petrik) Stuart. She attended Immaculate Conception grade school and was a proud member of Bishop Heelan High School’s Class of 1968. After High School, she studied Music at Morningside College.
Music was a lifelong passion and was at the heart of who she was. She loved to sing and played the violin with great skill. From her early years in her high school choir and orchestra to her time performing with the Sioux City Symphony, music was a constant source of happiness and expression throughout her life. Music brought her great joy and remained a constant presence throughout her life.
On December 21, 1974, Barb married John Duzik, beginning a marriage filled with love, devotion, and family. She was a proud and loving mother to two daughters, Peggy and Laura, and a cherished, loving grandmother to her two grandsons, Eric and Sean, who were the light of her life and brought her endless joy.
She worked for the Federal government for many years administering military entrance examinations, a role she carried out with dedication and care.
Those who knew her well knew she had a strong personality, confident and determined, yet always guided by love and loyalty to her family. She cared deeply, loved fiercely, and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Barb’s presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on in the family who survive her including her husband John, daughters Peggy Duzik and Laura (Mike) Miller, grandsons Eric and Sean Miller, her sisters Peggy (Joe) Frisbie and Liz Trayer, brothers-in-law Don (Terry) Duzik and Dean (Kate) Duzik, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her more than words can express.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jerome and Lois Stuart, her father and mother-in-law Geroge and Mary Jean Duzik, and her brother-in-law Scott Trayer.
A wake celebrating her life will be held at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel on Sunday December 21, 2025, with family present 4:00-7:00pm, Rosary at 6:30pm, followed by a parish vigil service at 7:00pm.
