Sophie E. Suknot, 98, of Sergeant Bluff, died Friday, July 13, 2018, at Embassy Rehab and Care Center in Sergeant Bluff.
Services were held on July 18 at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Sophie E. Bilunos, the daughter of Anthony and Catherine (Shwitkas) Bilunos, was born on April 9, 1920, in Sioux City. She graduated from East High School.
On Aug. 1, 1942, Sophie was united in marriage with John Suknot in Dakota City. She was employed as a credit reporter for Sioux City Credit Bureau for many years. John died on Dec. 28, 2014.
Sophie was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Sophie is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Steve) Harris of Sergeant Bluff; her son, John (Renae) Suknot of Cudahy, Wis.; four grandchildren, Kristine Savary, Debra Susemihl, Cheryl Suknot, and Angela Dial; eight great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sisters, Tessie Wagner and Catherine Ruchensky; and a brother, Tony Bilunos.
