Lois M. Williams

August 2, 1933 — January 11, 2018

Lois Marie (Rogerson) Williams entered eternal life in Sioux City on Jan. 11, 2018 at the age of 84. She was surrounded by family and friends.
A visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15 at Christy-Smith Funeral Home, Morningside, with a confraternity of Christian Mother’s rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 6 p.m. A memorial mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16 at Mater Dei Parish-Nativity Church. In lieu of flowers, release your favorite plant when you can get a shovel in the ground, or send a donation to Brookdale Sioux City, or Hospice of Siouxland. Condolences may be sent to the family at Christy-Smith Funeral home in Morningside.
Lois met a wonderful new family of great people at her most recent home at Brookdale Assisted living. Lois’ family would like to thank all the kind friends, ladies, staff, nurses and aides at Brookdale and the expert care of Hospice of Siouxland. They are all angels on earth.
Lois was born on Aug. 2, 1933 in Ballard, Wash. to Thomas and Agnes Rogerson. She graduated from Holy Angels High School in 1951, where her brother, Tom, was convinced she was the perpetual hall monitor and the nun’s favorite student. She worked as a bank teller until she met Robert who was stationed in Hawaii. Their marriage lasted over 50 years, so if you are seeking your soul mate, consider Honolulu. Together, she and Robert traveled across the country welcoming one child in Washington, D.C., one in Seattle, and one in Sioux City.
Lois worked for the Sioux City Foundry until the age of 83 and considered all their employees her second family. She enjoyed gardening and was often seen buying new stock at Earl May under the skilled guidance of John Kluver. He always knew the answers to any horticultural conundrum. She and Robert enjoyed boating with their young family, and later in life, traveling the country in their motorhome. Together they were founding parishioners at Nativity Catholic Church where her funeral will be held. All are welcome to attend to celebrate her life.
Lois is survived by her children, Kevin (Beth) of Sammamish, Wash., Gregg (Nancy) of Sioux City and Karen (Jon) Otto of Salix, Iowa; brother-in-law, Terry (Anita) Williams of Wathena, Kan.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and countless nieces and nephews – all of whom entertained her greatly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; all seven of her siblings; and a granddaughter, Amber.
