Lloyd D. Beauchene

August 16, 1940 — July 28, 2018

Lloyd Beauchene, 77, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Paul Mahaffie officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Lloyd was born to Cecil and Gladys Beauchene on Aug. 16, 1940. Joyce Beauchene was his stepmother. Lloyd worked at the Cimmarina in Sioux City and Dakota City for approximately 40 years. He was very well known for his expertise as a marine technician working on all types of boats and engines. Even after retiring, customers still sought out his skills. As an extension of working in the field of boats, he was involved in establishing a Coast Guard Auxiliary organization in the Sioux City area.
In the early 1970s, Interstate Speedway was built by his father, Cecil, in the Jefferson, S.D., area. Lloyd was head official and starter for many years. He had a passion for many different motorsports, including NASCAR, NHRA drag racing, tractor pulling, etc., and would often travel around the country with Donna in their motor home to attend these events.
Lloyd and Donna loved to ride motorcycles. After a little mishap in the Black Hills, they had to take a break from riding. But the bug would not leave and they moved to riding a trike. They were both very involved in the Tri-State Motorcycle Club as members and club leadership.
Family was very important to Lloyd. He loved and was very proud of his kids and grandkids.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 35 years, Donna; three sons, Doug (Debbie) of Rochester, Minn., Matt (Lisa) of Round Rock, Texas, and Patrick (Dawn) of Smyrna, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Kim Herbold Boose (Michael) of Apopka, Fla., and Roni Sue Herbold Westermeyer (Bob) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 10 grandchildren, Jake, Andrew, Shannon, Sean, Ben, and Chloe Beauchene, Lindsey Herbold, Taran Michael DeForrest, Madison Puello, and Meridith Puello; one great-grandchild, McKenzie Kay Walters; brother, Don Beauchene of San Pablo, Calif.; and former wife, Janice Beauchene of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Cecil and Joyce Beauchene of Jefferson, S.D.; his mother and stepfather, Gladys and Harvey Hefti of Coleridge, Neb.; and his brother, Delbert Beauchene of Sioux City.
