There will be an hour visitation prior to the service. Following the service, we will gather in Bronson, IA at the Floyd Township Cemetery for the graveside service. Kathryn’s family welcomes you to join us back at Holly Springs Bible Fellowship for a luncheon following the service. Kathryn Ann Haafke was born in Mapleton, Ia. on January 12, 1935. Her parents were Tom and Eula (Wintermute) Masters. She graduated from Castana High School in 1953. She continued her college education at Westmar College in LeMars, IA and studied Elementary Education. She married Raymond Haafke on March 2, 1956 in Battle Creek, IA. They have resided in rural Bronson, IA for the last 65 years and have been blessed with six children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Kathryn enjoyed substitute teaching for Bronson Elementary School, and being a part of her community. In addition to working with children, she loved working at the Christian Book Store in Sioux City, IA for 16 years. She was involved in the Christian Women’s Club. She donated her time and talents to the Tri-State Tractor Club, which helped many tractor enthusiasts enjoy their shared love for tractors and to go on organized tractor rides. The tractor ride that club members remember most, would be the tractor ride in the Black Hills, that included a group picture in front of Mount Rushmore. The tractors always looked amazing, but she was known for adding the finishing touches with two American flags secured to the front of each tractor, to display her American pride. Her patriotism was felt by many, including 2 sons, 1 daughter-in-law, and 3 grandchildren that have served and/or are currently serving our country in the military. She enjoyed traveling with her husband. She loved taking road trips to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kathryn’s many other talents included scrapbooking, sewing and knitting. Above all else, she loved her church, as well as the people and the connections she made over the years. She donated countless volunteer hours at her church alongside her husband, Ray. Kathryn is survived by her husband of 65 years, Raymond Haafke; her children, Debbie & Tom Kim of Seattle, WA, Mike & Candice Haafke of Bronson, IA, Ron & Heidi Haafke of Hanover, PA, Jeanne & Bruce Hohbach of Lincoln, NE, Karyl Ann Haafke of Kirkland, WA; her brother, Dwight & Alice Masters of Mapleton, IA; along with 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Tom & Eula Masters; brother, Philip Masters; sister, Elaine Masters; daughter, Judy & Marshal Bramble; and a grandchild, Christopher Bramble. Flowers are welcome and may be sent to the Holly Springs Bible Fellowship, in Holly Springs, IA.
