Doreen Faye Epstein, 65, of Marion, formerly of Sioux City, entered into rest Friday, April 20, 2018, in Marion.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, 1801 Morningside Ave., in Sioux City, with Deacon Ronald Forrest officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, the family will be present 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Doreen was born on Nov. 26, 1952, in Graceville, Minn., to Bernard M. and Gladys F. (Christians) Dickey. Her parents farmed near Wheaton, Minn. until 1954 when the family moved to Sioux City. Doreen graduated from Bishop Heelan Catholic High School and later Morningside College.
Doreen married Lawrence Stroman on Aug. 5, 1971 in Elk Point, S.D. To this union two children were born, Andrea and Sonya. She worked for the Zenith Corporation in Sioux City. Doreen married Lewis Morris on Nov. 25, 1978 in Tarrant County, Texas. They resided in Arlington, Texas, where she worked as a graphic designer. Later they moved to Oklahoma City, Okla., while there she was employed with the Jim Dandy Company as a bookkeeper. The couple later moved back to Sioux City. Doreen married Marty Epstein on Aug. 29, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nev. The couple made their home in Marion, where she worked as the national field director for Research Triangle International (RTI) collecting information for the US Dept. of Health. Recently, Doreen was working as field interviewer for the Census Bureau under the US Dept. of Commerce.
Her favorite times were spent with family and friends. Doreen had a passion for art. She was a talented artist and loved to draw. She had a great love for the outdoors, whether she was gardening, camping or swimming. She also loved to cook and do jigsaw puzzles. Doreen enjoyed traveling and even traveled overseas by herself. She was a past member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sioux City.
Doreen had a heart of gold and would go out of her way to help others. She loved giving back to her community. Doreen will never be forgotten and the love she shared will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Doreen was a loving, kind, caring and giving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and niece.
She is survived by her husband, Marty Epstein of Marion; two daughters, Andrea Stodola and her husband, Joel of Sioux City, and Sonya Stroman of Kingsley, Iowa, and her wife, Chris; nine grandchildren, Brandon Stroman and his wife, Kayla, Brittany Treft and her husband, Adam, Kaitlynn Kinney and her husband, Andy, Brett Wamberg and his wife, JaMaine, Blake Ngo, Baylee Stodola, Orion Olson, Brooklyn Stodola and Jayce Olson; five great-grandchildren with another on the way; two brothers, Steve Dickey of Sioux City, and Stuart Dickey of Las Vegas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Doreen was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Michael Dickey.
She will always remain forever in our hearts.
