David Michael Georgesen

David M. Georgesen, 64, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021 at a local hospital.

Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, located at 1801 Morningside Ave. Sioux City, IA. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to Memorial service.

David, the son of Darrell and Delores (Fieldhacker) Georgesen was born August 16, 1956 in Sioux City, IA. He was raised in South Sioux City, NE where he graduated from High School in 1974. David joined the Army after graduation.

November 17, 2007 David married Jill Barrett at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Sioux City, IA. David worked as a cook at various restaurants in Siouxland, Garden Café, Harvey’s, Horizon, and Black Bear Dinner. David enjoyed playing pool, darts and cribbage, karaoke, bingo, gambling, and spending time with friends. He also enjoyed being a comical jokester.

David is survived by his wife, Jill Georgesen of Sioux City, IA; brother, Dan (Deb) Georgesen and their 3 children of Omaha, NE ; 4 shared kids, Amanda, Michelle, Matthew and Katelyn all of Sioux City, IA; 6 grandkids; mother-in-law, Judy Barrett of Sioux City; 2 brothers-in-law, Paul (Joan) Barrett of Sioux City, Ronald Barrett of Sioux City; sister-in-law, Becky Barrett of Sioux City; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Delores Georgesen; father-in-law, Howard Barrett; brother-in-law, Howard Barrett Jr; infant brother-in-law, Jack Barrett.
