Bruce Malcom was born to Ivan and Jean (Olander) Malcom on Oct. 22, 1963, in Wakefield NE. They brought him home to a farm near Dixon NE, later moving to Homer NE then finally a farm near Allen NE. Bruce grew up hunting, exploring, and working on the farm. Many hours of his youth were spent in the pasture building forts and climbing trees. He would go looking for adventure in the woods nearby and usually ended up with great stories. He loved hunting dove, pheasants, and raccoon with family and friends. His high school years were full of sports, shop classes, and FFA. Bruce learned much during these years that he would use for the rest of his life.

Bruce graduated from high school in 1982, he continued working in the family farming operation while starting a new career at IBP. Bruce’s father passed in 1984, during this time Bruce was there to help his mother and provide support to his younger siblings. He ran the farming operation while working full time for several years. Life was very busy for him working so many hours to keep up with all the demands of farming and his job but still he found time for hunting and family.

Bruce married Shelly Hingst in 1985 and to this union came Joshua and Jacob. His young family was raised in a home they purchased in Jackson NE. Later Bruce was blessed with another child named Marsadie “Sadie” Lee (Mother Bridgett Zeisler Peters). His working career was in industrial maintenance including working at Sara Lee and later Maintenance Manager at Siouxland Ethanol.

In 1998 Bruce met the love of his life Kelly Newsom, they were united into marriage in 2002. They built two homes together on Bruce’s family farm in Allen Ne, blending their children together as one family. He was so proud of his children and loved them all. Bruce and Kelly were blessed with three wonderful grandsons Jack, Coy, and Lincoln. He took every chance he could to spend time with them. Bruce was a hardworking man that put his heart and soul into everything he did and took great pride in all his accomplishments, which were many.
