Nola Jean Dillinger

Nola Jean Dillinger, 78, of Sioux City, passed away on April 21, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 4:15 p.m., at the church. Nola was born on Nov. 25, 1938, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Noel and Norma (Blake) Osborn. She graduated from Le Grand High School in 1957.
On Nov. 9, 1957, she was united in marriage to Vernon Dillinger in Sioux City. He preceded her in death in 2003. Nola worked at several places in Sioux City, including the Truck Haven as a waitress and prep cook, Zenith, Gateway Computers and Sacred Heart School as a cafeteria worker and cook.
Nola was a very giving woman and made sure that she helped those in need, especially children. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Ladies of La Salette. Family was important to her. She loved to go to the casino, Heelan sports activities, and was known for baking 100s of dozens of Christmas cookies for others. Family vacations, Disneyland, Dodger Stadium, the Grand Canyon and the Black Hills were some of her favorite places.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Phillip Dillinger of Brookings, S.D., Theresa (Ron) Schwarte of Litchfield Park, Ariz., Thomas (Jackie) Dillinger of Goodyear, Ariz., Father Joe Dillinger of Sac City, Iowa, and Della Anne (Chris) Larsen of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Mike (Brandi) Dillinger, Katie Anderson, Amanda (Zeb) Martens, Janelle (Aaron) Derby, Alexis (Ryan) Rausch, Matthew (Jessica) Larsen and Austin Larsen; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way; two sisters-in-laws, Sister Bernadine Dillinger and Tosh Dillinger; a special nephew, Loy Dean (Pam) Eide; and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Della Eide; and two great-granddaughters, Autumn and Anika Martens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or at the discretion of the family.
