Loran H. Ingalls

Loran H. Ingalls, 81, of Temple, Texas, formerly of Sergeant Bluff and Sioux City, died Monday, June 11, 2018, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Martha Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Loran was born on June 1, 1937, in Sioux City, the son of Clarence H and Pearl I. (Lee) Ingalls. He attended Hinton (Iowa) Community Schools.
He was united in marriage with Betty Lou Ruger on Oct. 13, 1958 in Elk Point, S.D. The couple lived in Sioux City for 30 years, then moved to Sergeant Bluff for 12 years, then retired to Temple in 2010. The couple were members of Church of All Nations.
Loran worked for many years as a truck driver, later he worked at Concrete Pipe Manufacturing until he became partially disabled. He then became a stay at home dad, getting the kids to school and their other activities.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, as well as riding his motorcycle. He loved to cook and tell stories, and always wore his cowboy boots and cowboy hat.
Loran’s life will always be cherished and remembered by his wife, Betty; his four sons, Douglas of Texas, Russell, Michael and his wife, Kristel, and Ronald and his fiancee, Tammy, all of Sioux City; his three daughters, Vicki Stewart of Sioux City, Tracey Ingalls of California, and Michele Hermann and her husband, Thomas of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jeanne Protiva, Linda Kaufman, and Ruth Morales; a brother, Paul Ingalls; and a sister-in-law, Wanda Ingalls.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Laura; two brothers, Orville, and Larry; and a sister, Darlene.
