Dorothy A. Wilcox

Dorothy Ann Wilcox, 89, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at a local hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, South Sioux City. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.
Dorothy was born on Oct. 3, 1928, in Petersburg, Neb., the daughter of Bernard and Jessie (Lewis) Koch. The family moved to Norfolk, Neb., when she was 8 years old. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Schools and graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School. She then attended Norfolk Junior College.
She was united in marriage with Rex James Wilcox on Sept. 16, 1948. The family lived in the Norfolk area until 1972, when they moved to South Sioux City. They moved to Dakota Dunes in 2009 and Sioux City in 2016. Dorothy was employed in Norfolk at Norfolk Catholic High School and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Upon moving to South Sioux City, she worked at J.C. Penney's.
She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America in South Sioux City, the American Business Women's Club and was a volunteer at the South Sioux City Library with Friends of the Library. Dorothy was an avid Bridge player.
Her life will always be remembered by her children, Carol (Dale) Thompson of Rolling Meadows, Ill., James (Jeanne) Wilcox of Galloway, N.J., Jane (Patrick) Loving of Sioux City, and Julie Wilcox and special daughter, Catalina Quitugua of Denver, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, David Wilcox; a daughter, Margaret Wiebelhaus; and a sister, Helen Zink of Omaha.
Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
