GRIEF COUNSELING

Christy-Smith Funeral Homes is the only funeral home in the area that offers a full-time Bereavement Counselor on staff.  Brenda Zahnley visits with each of our families following the death of their loved one, as well as one-on-one counseling.  She facilitates various support groups during the year: Broken Silence for those who have experienced the death of a loved one through suicide; Picking Up the Pieces for young widows (35 to 55ish); A Step Beyond which meets monthly for those who are beyond the first raw stages of grief; Grief Relief meets monthly at our McCulloch Chapel in Moville; and Community of Daughters for those daughters who have lost their mother.  Our Cherish The Child Walk is an annual event for anyone who has lost a child (from miscarriage to adulthood).  These support groups are open to the public and are advertised in the local newspaper.  If you have any questions, feel free to call us at 712-276-7319.
